Course Description
The Extreme Cold Weather Oil Spill Response Course will cover the skills required to respond to and cleanup oil spills which may occur in extreme cold weather environments – frozen rivers, lakes, ponds and snow.  Emphasis is placed on cold weather PPE and response strategies and techniques (various ice slotting techniques) utilized in the proper selection of extreme cold weather response equipment for oil spill containment, recovery and cleanup in snow and ice environments.

Topics to be discussed include:

·         Cold Weather PPE & Safety (Clothing, etc.)

·         Ice Characteristics                      

·         Source Containment Techniques (Various Ice Slotting Techniques)

·         Surface Oil Removal Techniques (Cold Weather Oil Skimmers)
